Our residents also have their own practice at the Moreno Valley Med-Peds Continuity Clinic, which is separate from that of our categorical Internal Medicine and Pediatric residents, that is staffed exclusively by Med-Peds trained attendings.
This clinic serves a high percentage of low income patients, in addition to many patients with complex medical needs. The residents have a panel of patients and take care of patients as a small group practice with each resident assigned to one of 4 teams (each with a PGY1, PGY2, PGY3 and PGY4 resident).
Residents will spend approximately 1/2 day of clinic per week with at least 36 clinic sessions per year. We have 2 simultaneous quality improvement projects at any given time that are driven by residents. We also have a high retention of our clinic staff with very little turnover. In the last 10 years, only two of our clinic staff have left our practice, which gives our patients and residents stability.
